Types of parental leave

There are different reasons for parental leave (different types of parental leave). Both parents are entitled to parental leave, however, some rules are only applicable to the pregnant parent, the parent giving birth to the child or the parent breast feeding the child. Parental leave may in some cases be exercised by others than a parent (a spouse or partner, an adoptive parent, a legal custodian or a foster parent etc).
